Tomorrow
is the start of NaPoWriMo, or National Poetry Writing Month, and I’m getting involved.
Jumping in with two feet, splashing about, and hoping to uncover a couple of
useable poems. I’m also hoping that others will get involved, post their poetic
efforts and share their experiences.
I'm a poet. I'm a blogger (here). I’m
a member of Blackpool Dead Good Poets’ Society, and the aim is to encourage
other members of our group to write a poem a day throughout the month of April –
while also offering a space for their poems to be posted, read and commented on.
The
poems don’t have to be finished, they don’t have to be final drafts and they
don’t have to be Paradise Lost in length. It could be a notebook jotting that’s
not yet found its end, a scruff first draft on the back of an envelope, or even
a three line haiku. The important thing is to engage in writing, to develop a routine
and to learn how to write through the self-doubt.
If
you are interested in being involved, send your name and email address to: Lar_1984@hotmail.co.uk and I’ll
happily add you to the list.
Lara
